VonArx Engineering provided site design and construction documents for improvements to the University City High School athletic fields and track. The project included replacing the track surface and drainage system, converting the aging grass field to synthetic turf, and adding concrete curbs, retaining walls, and related site improvements.
The increase in impervious area required stormwater quality approval from the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District. To meet these requirements, we designed a 0.5-acre bioretention basin nested within a retaining wall system and documented the tracking and exchange of stormwater treatment areas throughout the site.
We supported the project through a complex review and approval process involving MSD, St. Louis County Traffic, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, and local utility providers. The completed infrastructure improvements represented an investment of approximately $950,000.
